Rabbitohs World Domination
The South Sydney Rabbitohs. "The Pride of the League"
After a long and at times heartbreaking wait of 43 years, the Rabbitohs finally spring from the dry well of defeat, where at their darkest hour they even had to fight in The Federal Court to stay in the National Rugby League competition. Capturing the support of an illustrious group of fans from around the world, the tale of the Rabbitohs and their "Never Say Die" spirit is one of the classic "feel good" stories of triumph against all odds. |
Ted Jones - Australian Legend
On the subject of "Diggers" and "Legends", meet Ted Jones, WW2 Digger and "Australian legend".
Ted was born "old school". A true gentleman and "man's man", Ted cut a dashing figure as a surf lifesaver on Sydney's Maroubra Beach. In 1945, Ted joined the 2nd AIF as an infantryman, but found this too mundane. So, he gave up his rank of Lance Corporal to join the 2/11th Australian Commando Squadron as a Trooper. Catch his story here! |
Gus Newson - Australian Legend
Still on the subject of "Diggers" and "Legends", meet Gus Newson, WW2 Digger who gave his life for his country on a small Mediterranean Island a long time ago.
Gus was Ted's uncle, although they were very close in age. Hailing from the Sydney suburb of Wentworthville, Gus signed up almost from the very start of the war. He ended up in the Greece fighting the Nazis, and after an evacuation to Crete, was killed in action attempting to hold back the Nazi "Blitzkrieg". Watch the video and take the challenge. Lest We Forget. |

Taking a lead from our national motto "Advance Australia Fair", Lance comes up with his own take on what it means to be "Australian". Forget the "date debate", there is much more to it than that. We can celebrate our culture whenever we like. But what does it all mean? |
